The 2nd book in the new bear shifter series. This is a hawt, steamy, sexy, quick read of a girl that comes to town with an effort to make a last stab at a (dead) relationship, with her ex.
Leo, is not happy that he's not able to be out in the nice weather, hiking or fishing. Nope he's taking care of his friend, Cole's business, while he's off camping with his new girlfriend. Leo is called over to a couple that are debating on what to get for their fishing trip. It's evident that things aren't right between the two. They need everything as the guy states "I plan to catch the biggest-ass fish in the ocean."
The girl corrects him with " They're lakes."
Leo tells him "they are freshwater lakes and streams. There are no oceans." This was not appreciated by the guy.
Caroline Abbott is a sweet city girl, that is already regreting the attempted last stab at a dead relationship with her ex Bill.
Bill is a know it all and puts Caroline down, sneering and arguing with her at every time she says something he doesn't agree with.
They load up the car and drive off. Later, Leo goes to the bar to order food. As he's waiting to eat, the door opens and in wallks Bill, without Carline.
Bill is ranting, bitching about the girl he came with "didn't want to fish because he wouldn't wear a god d*med life preserver."
Leo started to go over, but the Sheriff was there, stopped him and told him to go, get the girl, he had this.
Leo takes off to take care of the girl and all bets were off.
I read this book 1st, by mistake, and the story was fun with the banter at the beginning of the story. The relationship between Caroline and Bill was "dead" and no life to be obtained. Leo wasn't looking for a relationship, but wouldn't mind "hitting" on Caroline, if she wasn't with Bill.
I really enjoyed this story and the hawt sex was an added bonus to the story.
I recommend this story. It can be read as a standalone, although each story is also connected by the mentioning characters from previous books.

Quick & Smutty Read

Let’s get this out of the way now. These novellas are only ideal for readers that are looking for reads that are quick, raw, full of smut and over the top males. And while each story does have a storyline, the main premise is the male finding, conquering and claiming his mate. They ARE explicit.
These books are a shining example of everything that I love about this sub-genre of erotic shifter romances. Ruby hit the nail on the head with the insta-love, obsessive and possessive male, sassy females, off the charts matings and happily ever afters.
To be honest though, if I had to categorise these books I would put them down more as erotica than straight paranormal romance.
The writing made these books easy reads. Ruby drew me into each couple’s story and I didn’t feel that I had “read it all before.” I loved that each story felt unique and not repetitive. Each can stand on its’ own but I don’t understand why you wouldn’t want to read them all. But let’s be honest for a moment, as these are short reads you are not going to get an in-depth background story or large character development. What you get is the explosion of chemistry and the main character traits that make you fall for these characters.
Ruby is a master at writing the down and dirty. These scenes were WHITE HOT. As expected with mated couples, the chemistry was electric and undeniable.
I cannot wait to meet some more of this clan. Ruby Dixon has definitely found a new fan in me. Erotica readers will not be disappointed.
So Leo is a bit of a deviance from what I usually expect in a shifter. He is a player BUT that being said, he does not play around once the heroine comes into the picture – so I think it can be forgiven and overlooked.
And poor Leo, while there is an attraction to the lady that will eventually become his mate upon first meeting, he almost doesn’t realise it because of her a-hole boyfriend. Good thing for him that he gets a second chance when said boyfriend abandons her.
Caroline (Caro) knows that her relationship has most likely met its end. She decided to give it one last shot to see if she could revive it. Yeah, that doesn’t work out the way that she planned, but not all is lost when Leo comes into the picture.
When these two come together it is dynamite. Ruby does an awesome job of portraying the explosion between this pair. I also loved the essential insta-love between these two. It has to be one of my most favorite things to happen in a book and Ruby made me believe it.
Another great job at hitting the nail on the head with this quick and smutty read. I got what I expected and wasn’t disappointed in the delivery.

I am going to warn in all these reviews that Ruby Dixon is marketing these as "BEAR BITES" - they are meant to be quick (&steamy!) reads revolving around shifters and they are exactly that.
Get Your Shift Together was a sweet, fast read. Caroline is not a doe eyed 20 year old, not model thin, nor is she runway gorgeous - like most women, she doesn't see herself as beautiful, but she cutting herself short.
Leo may be a werebear, but he isn't a blind one and he is instantly attracted to her. When circumstances arise, he immediately grabs for the opportunity to get to know her. Poor Caroline's self esteem issues almost get in the way of her stars-have-aligned romance with her werebear, but thankfully, she realizes it and takes steps to --- well? To get her "shift" together ;)
I bookmarked a couple passages in this one - just well written and some of them were pretty sweet (and often pretty hot). Here was one:
"Can't let someone as pretty as you get eaten by bears," he teases.
Oh, God, flirting. I'm so terrible at flirting. I should laugh, right? Okay. Laugh, Caro! He's making a joke! Laugh!
A braying laugh escapes me, and I'm horrified at the sound. I clap a hand over my mouth and stare at him.

Okay, she may have had trouble, but I sure laughed at this - I've been there, I've totally done this. But... but... where is *my* understanding bear-shifter for my totes-awkwards-troubles?? Methinks should have earned at least one! :D
All in all, this was an enjoyable quick "Bite"!
